Battling Child Labor
In Honduras, Child Labor is carried out in different formal sectors as well as within a family context and there are deep-rooted cultural patterns that force many children to work from an early age. According to the National Institute of Statistics, in 2018 there are 404,642 of children who work in the informal sector 43% of them in ages from 10 to 14 and 50% in ages from 15 to 17 years. 50% of these working children are engaged in agriculture, livestock, forestry and fishing activities. In households where there is child labor, 73% of these people are poor, the monthly income provided by that child is L 2,600.00 and 87% of these children have no education or just have elementary, less than 1.5% have reached high school.
